Fleeze In The Hood

So I went to visit Omar on Friday, the guy who got fired for speaking up about poverty.
Well he sure knows of what he speaks. he lives in the the Baruch Housing projects, an extremely dangerous section of the lower east side of Manhattan. Not 3 nights before one of his friends had been gunned down outside his building. He met me at the subway and we walked under the bridge to his very small, dank apt.His room is smaller than anything I've ever lived in and the place is rotting from within.he's lived there his whole life, later on I met his his old beaten down dad who he introduced me to named Butch. Omar rolled large cigar blunts and recited his raps to me over Jay Z background tunes. Then his homeboys showed up, one guy a ten-year ex-con named Boxhead George turned to me and said if you ever run into any problems in this hood just mention my name, he was accompanied by a Beastie Boy type named OJ. These guys again produced huge blunts and we partied on.. it was just like being in boarding school, except we were grown men. It was implied that if I was not a friend of Omar they would have robbed me on the spot as this is what they do..Finally it got to be 6pm and I said I needed to leave, as I ran to board the nearest bus I looked behind me and realized how lucky I am to have my economic circumstances and the fact I was born into another reality than housing projects on the Lower East Side.
